There may only be a few trusted people who know the truth about your past, maybe you tried to push through it and even while it was happening, no one truly knew. You may have wanted to push it down and not ever think of it again, but the thing is, the memories may continue to pop up.
When pushing memories of a traumatic past down, they may pop up when you least expect it, and least want them to. The past may appear when you see someone who looks like the person who harmed you and suddenly you feel uncomfortable. Or you may have nightmares, intrusive thoughts and memories that feel as if you are re-living the moment when the horrible experience happened.
You can heal.
I have seen women go through trauma treatment and while the process may be difficult, it is a beautiful transformation. To be able to let go and break free from the things that have been holding them down for so long.
